The Manager works with campus departmental contacts in areas where there is another designated primary point of contact: Builder’s Risk Insurance Program, Comprehensive Property Protection Plan (CPPP), Cyber, International Insurance Programs, and Rolling Owner Controller Insurance Program (ROCIP). The Manager for Insurance & Risk is the primary point of contact on campus for the following insurance programs offered by UT System (UTS): Automobile Insurance Program, Camp Insurance Program, Crime, Drone, Equipment, Fine Arts, Special Event General Liability, Tenants’ and Users’ Liability Insurance Policy (TULIP), and Workers’ Compensation Insurance. Responsibilities include management of claims and loss control activities, management of relationships with third-party service providers, insurers and other third-party administrators, preparing loss analyses and budgets, identifying exposures, recommending solutions, implementing approved programs, promoting loss prevention, updating and monitoring compliance with insurance procedures and collaboratively managing safety/risk management policies and procedures. The Manager owns the process of identifying, measuring and managing insurable or hazard risks, developing reports and plans, and analyzing risk/insurance problems and defining and/or overseeing the implementation of the risk solutions that help optimize University operations. This position is accountable for achieving strategic objectives, ensuring effective hazard (typically insurable risks) risk management for the organization and supervising, leading and/or directing key risk stakeholders. This position is responsible for employing guidance, instruction, training, and leadership skills to inspire optimum performance, and to create a cohesive cross-functional team that works efficiently together. The Manager develops, delivers, and continuously promotes methods and practices which reflect a balanced culture of risk reduction within the University. The Manager for Insurance & Risk is responsible for proactively leading and managing various aspects of the university’s insurance programs, and developing risk metrics and methodologies for the monitoring, analysis and reporting of risk exposures.
